From Blaine: melanic forms of elaterids are not rare, and I've seen several among eastern oophorines.

Looks like a dark Aeolus, based on carinate front femora and what appears to be small membranous tarsal lobes. I will send the link to Paul Johnson, who is revising the genus with one of his former students.
