Transformer - Schistocerca obscura

Transformer - Schistocerca obscura
Desoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
August 8, 2013
Size: 55mm head to wingtip
This may be "old hat" to serious GH students, but it was the first time I'd seen it --so bear with my enthusiasm! I usually tolerate one or two grasshoppers in my garden and share without complaint. However, the two that I tolerated last year may have been a mistake -- they've multiplied and eaten more than their fair share this year. Every instar has been "Shistocerca Green" (that should be a paint color!) and all adults have been S. obscura.
