Diachrysia balluca

Diachrysia balluca
Whitefish Point, Chippewa County, Michigan, USA
August 4, 2013
Size: not measured
Found in our vegetable garden on romaine lettuce head. Aspen and rubus species are in the area. The Mississippi State Univ. math photographers group does not show records for this species in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but Beadle and Leckie do show our area in its range. I am hoping for an ID confirmation so I can post this photo on their site. What a beautiful moth!

for county records
Leslie A. Ferge is the season summary coordinator for zone 8 of the Lepidopterists’ Society, and is the person who will know if the record is new for the county.
Please email me at maury.heiman@gmail.com for contact information.
Thanks

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

The species is known throughout the region. The MPG and Bug Guide records are works in progress and do not represent all known records yet. Nice moth!
Thanks
