The spider the Tarantula is feeding on is a burrowing wolf spider. Notice the pattern on its abdomen.

after all the tarantulas we saw
I didn't recognize this one. I also couldn't figure out what else it could be. I also don't know spiders at all! Anyway, I thought everyone saw this spider but we were trying to leave and it was the last thing I saw/photographed by Alice's light on the hillside.

 
Just a different species
from those Desert Blondes we kept seeing. Would be nice to have a key to these Aphonopelma -- that's the kind we often have in California and I never know their species.
