Stink bug - Chlorochroa viridicata

Stink bug - Chlorochroa viridicata
Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
July 16, 2013
Size: ~7-8 mm
Another odd pentatomid from a degraded shortgrass prairie habitat near my home.

Moved tentatively

How about C. viridicata (Walker)?
It looks exactly like a specimen I collected in Colfax County, NM last summer, which keyed out handily to this sp. Not teneral; green is the mature color. Also the small size (less than 10 mm) is characteristic. Native to the Rockies and Great Plains, per revision by DB Thomas (1983).

Don says, "If it is only 7.5 mm then I agree, C. viridicata"
yaaaay

thanks again, Jason --must be it
great addition; beautiful bug, too -- and now looks distinctive enough to me, too

i'll ask Don to take another look at some point, he's already swamped by my requests

Don Thomas says, "my best guess is a teneral belfragei"

Moved tentatively; nice find --must be new to the Guide!
