Osmoderma scabra

Osmoderma scabra
Kittery, at Green Art Sculpture Garden, York County, Maine, USA
August 4, 2013
Size: ca. 1-1/2" long
this beautiful beetle was resting on the hollow stem of a fallen oak (Quercus rubra,I found it at daytime. When I filmed it and tried to move it with my finger it was not afraid of trying to push my finger out of the way. It also displayed abrupt movement towards me that I interpret as threatening behavior - a fearless little creature!
