Sleepy Orange - Abaeis nicippe

Sleepy Orange - Abaeis nicippe
Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA
October 2, 2006
Size: 32 mm
Final instar - it pupated the next day. It was feeding on Senna obtusifolia (sicklepod). I waited to get an adult for confirmation, since so many of the sulphur caterpillars look alike.

A fine series
Last shot looks styled. Did you employ an art director?

No, just a refrigerator
- I had to keep it overnight without it beating itself up, so I had it in a folded paper towel in the fridge and when I took it out this morning it was pretty compliant. : )

A refrigerator? I have one of those, he said brightly.
So far, I have taken no prisoners, but may have to resort to catch-and-release to get better shots. Can't argue with your results. Hummmm...

Search the subject of chilling on this site
and you'll see some tips.

Cool!
:-)
