Taiga Bluet - Coenagrion resolutum - Male
Missinipe, Saskatchewan, Canada
July 16, 2013
On the DSA's first full day up in Missinipe, I spent part of the morning wading into a bog so frigid that my toes were hurting before I made my way out. I ran into a few of these critters which I initially thought (hoped) were Subarctic Bluets before we (I was with Fred Sibley and Jerrell Daigle) ultimately figured them to be Taiga instead. While stalking these I heard some rustling overhead and looked up to see a trio of Gray Jays, an adult with two fledglings; the adult was eating a Boreal Snaketail!
