Halloween Bug - Murgantia histrionica
City of Coronado, San Diego County, California, USA
October 8, 2006
Size: Approximately 3/8" long.
Four of these beauties were in my flowerbed this week, basically on top of vegetation. They were relatively inactive, except when their plant was jostled, at which point they hid under their broad-leafed perch. They came out soon to sit on top of the foliage, however.

Harlequin bug nymphs (compare below). I have bug envy!
