Halloween Bug - Murgantia histrionica

Halloween Bug - Murgantia histrionica
City of Coronado, San Diego County, California, USA
October 8, 2006
Size: Approximately 3/8" long.
Four of these beauties were in my flowerbed this week, basically on top of vegetation. They were relatively inactive, except when their plant was jostled, at which point they hid under their broad-leafed perch. They came out soon to sit on top of the foliage, however.

Harlequin Bug Nymphs
There was a post on these the other day, and I'm starting to see them in California now as well.

Stinkbug nymphs, not sure what species.

Wow! That was a fast response. I think you are probably correct, because I also observed 2 orange and black stinkbugs several feet away. I took it as an interesting coincidence that they had similar colors; it did not occur to me that the round ones might be offspring of the mature stinkbugs.
