Buprestid (?) on milkweed - Brachys aerosus
south of Scotchtown, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada

Size: 5mm
Found on a milkweed leaf. May have an association with milkweed: when flushed this beetle flew to another milkweed nearby. Resembles a buprestid.

Definitely a Brachys sp most
Definitely a Brachys sp most likely B. aerosus. A straight on dorsal shot makes the best photo to ID most buprestids. I don't know of any associations with milkweed for this genus. It might be worth while to observe them to see if they might be feeding on it. When in doubt collect some specimens and send them to an expert.
