A moth - Synanthedon pictipes

A moth - Synanthedon pictipes
Brossard, Quebec, Canada
August 16, 2013
Size: 0.5cm
A black midge-like insect on glass. I'm calling it a midge but the wings don't look midgey to me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
(PS, After submitting I edited the title as it was very misleading). It is kind of embarrassing to confuse a moth for midge!)

Moved from Sesioidea.

I would concur, it appears to be Synanthedon pictipes.

Moved from ID Request.

Could it be
Sesiidae? Maybe something like Synanthedon pictipes (Lesser Peachtree Borer - Hodges#2550)???

Thank you! I hadn't thought of a moth.
