Getting to know my local leafhoppers. I know that some of my images will get frassed, but if anybody could be so kind as to ID them for me, I'll keep the leafhopper images coming. Thanks!

Scaphoideus
This could be BAD NEWS: this genus is not supposed to be on the west coast, in which case it could be the virus vector of flavescence doree of grapes. If it was taken on or near grapes you need to send specimens to the USDA right away if possible!

 
We do have A LOT of vineyards
We do have A LOT of vineyards around here. I will endeavor to find more specimens of the species and drop them in ethanol. If you have a contact point with the USDA, please forward via email. I have one contact but he's in forestry and I'm not sure he's the best avenue.

I will post another photo of the species if I can find it again. Seems this was one of the more common ones the last few weeks but things can change quickly. The rains have already returned.
