Hyalophora cecropia - Arcade NY 19 August 2013 - caterpillar

I believe I have a Cecropia caterpillar in my backyard Lilac bush - found this morning..are they common in Western New York - ??
I am not a "bug" enthusiast - but happening upon this very large caterpillar - the largest I had ever seen in my lifetime - shocked me and I had to photo it and investigate.

You'll be more likely to get an ID
and comments if you post the image to ID Request. Photo must be a .jpg less than 2Mb. Crop the image to essentially "just the bug"
