Multicolored Asian Ladybird Beetle - Harmonia axyridis

Multicolored Asian Ladybird Beetle - Harmonia axyridis
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
October 11, 2006
I found this beetle acting a little strangely, aimlessly wandering around on a leaf. It has evidence of the infection shown on this photo , also.
What I know of parasitic organisms, is that it frequently will cause the behavior of its host to change so that it becomes more likely to come into contact with it's next host (that's if it's life cycle includes multiple hosts). It's possible that the next host of this (fungus?) is something like a Yellowjacket or a Bird, perhaps.
Just a thought.
