Glyphuroplata pluto? - Glyphuroplata pluto

Glyphuroplata pluto? - Glyphuroplata pluto
Pelham, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
August 21, 2013
Size: 3.4 mm
Reared from a leaf mine in a small, unidentified, fuzzy grass that was growing as a weed in the garden. This beetle was doing such a good job playing dead last night when I took these photos that I was planning on point-mounting it this morning, but I found it alive and well just now.

hast to be... very nice --and a great call, too
Moved from Beetles.

host plant
Checking the 'bible' of Chrysomelid host plant info (1) (I just got a copy), it is stated that Panicum capillare "may possibly" be the host plant and possibly big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii). A few other plants are given listed as likely incidental.

Panicum capillare appears to be 'fuzzy'.

Panicum
Yes, I'm pretty sure now that the host was a Panicum (or Dichanthelium, which has been split off from Panicum) of some sort.
