Scopula frigidaria - Frigid Wave - Cabera erythemaria - male

Scopula frigidaria - Frigid Wave - Cabera erythemaria - Male
Dalkeith, Ontario, Canada
August 3, 2013
This moth has been IDed by BAMONA as a Scopula frigidaria - Frigid Wave. I'm sending it to Bugguide.net so you can have a picture for your records too.

Thanks Steve, the antennae are definitely bipectinate. = ♂

Male - Yellow-dusted Cream Moth
Note, Scopula frigidaria should not have those thick yellow lines. This looks like a male Cabera erythemaria. (northern) However, for this north-eastern location, Gueneria similaria is also a possibility.

Not S. similaria
This looks like Cabera erythemaria to me too. At high resolution it appears that the antennae are pectinate which should eliminate Gueneria similaria which has simple antennae per per Rindge (1956). I can't see this at low res especially given the background but at high res it is pretty visible. A crop at full res would be nice to see for full confirmation. I don't know if frigidaria males have pectinate antennae but BOLD has several dozen images and all seem to have simple antennae.

Yes
As far as I know, none of the males in the genus Scopula have long pectines on the antnnae.
