I found this in my mother's house just wandering around. Any ideas of what kind of centipede this is? It is about 7" long, with 20 pairs of legs and moves REALLY fast. It likes to eat mealworms and junebugs.

Scolopendra polymorpha
In California, this can only be Scolopendra polymorpha Wood, 1861, the only native representative of the Scolopendridae in the state. It occurs from east Texas to the Pacific and spreads northward into Utah and all the way to the Plains of eastern Montana. To the south it occurs well into Mexico. This is an especially large individual.
