Sphinx Moth? -
Xylophanes tersa
Plantation, Broward County, Florida, USA
October 12, 2006
Saw this on my wall at dawn, it was large, roughly 2 inches, gorgeous patterns, I looked it up and as close as I could find was a sphinx moth, but not any particular type.
Thanks,
Charles

Nice
images. Moved to page.
Future reference for submitting moth/butterfly images, Charles -
Check all the following that apply to this image:
Please check adult (moth/butterfly) and/or immature (egg/caterpillar/pupa) when submitting to Lepidoptera.
If you don't know for sure, don't check it. For caterpillars check immature and for butterflies and moths check adult. If the photo shows mating behavior, check both male and female. Representative photos appear on info and browse pages (checked by default).

Representative not represented for him...
You're forgetting that the representative flag is only visible to editors. Of course, you're in good company in that regard- there was an exchange just recently in the forums where a contributor had to point out that the check box they asked him to check wasn't there...

Yes,
I should have omitted that, but didn't think about it and representative was not the issue here anyway.
Thanks for updating your images, Charles.

Even so...
I went back over all my photos and whatever I could, I checked the appropriate box (especially for Lepidoptera) I am sorry if I caused any inconvenience to the editors, I really just want to learn and help by contributing my photography to this wonderful and informative site!

Jeff
Thanks so much, I am so afraid to check something that shouldn't be checked that I forget the obvious! I appreciate the patience you and all the others have with me, I will get there someday..don't worry..LOL
