Wish I was able to get a few more shots. Squinting at range maps in field guides, I think hesperis is the only one found in the area but can't say for sure.

Brock & Kaufman
and Glassberg put
hesperis
in with
atlantis
but BG has it as a separate species.
S. nokomis
is another possibility, Glassberg has it in extreme NW NM and eastern AZ. Your specimen has the yellow-green eyes of
nokomis
, but
atlantis
in the SW (?=
hesperis
) also has yellow-green eyes.
S. atlantis
otherwise has blue/gray eyes.

thanks Tony
I had checked with someone from NM who said that
hesperis
is the only one confirmed (with
cybele
and
aphrodite
as possible).
I think the new edition of Brock & Kaufman uses the Opler and Warren list, which does split
hesperis
. Haven't actually picked up a copy to see for sure.

yes hesperis
Hi, It's indeed S. hesperis. To be even more specific, it is S. hesperis dorothea. Very dark markings on this one.
