Big sleepy wasp - Pygodasis quadrimaculata - Female

Size: 32-35 mm
I felt lucky to find this in a sluggish state this morning right outside my windows. I couldn't get it to lie flat for an exact measurement, though. What details are needed to tell male from female? I have other shots showing different details if needed.

males have noticeably longer
males have noticeably longer antenna, and are for the most part smaller than the females. What you have right there is a female. :) I love this species to.

ya, however males usually congragate on flowers or plants in the evening, you can find cloisters of them. I''m positive this website has males of other scoliid wasps. look up the genus campsomeris, you'll get tons of hits. :)oh by the way, males also do not have stingers.
