They have been calling the ones in the Tetons and Yellowstone
by the name "subspecies
windi
", but they have much more orange than the ones further east in the Wind River and Big Horn Mountains that were actually given that name. These more orange ones may actually be more similar to more orange subspecies such as
anicia, eurytion, carmentis, & capella
, but for now I'll follow convention and put them under
windi

Photo Details
I did edit the photo first--including cropping, color levels, tone curve, contrast, brightness, and sharpness, but I tried to make the photo as true to life as possible.
I think you found the species, and maybe even the subspecies! The pattern is almost identical. The color in the white and orange spots don't always match, but when you compare the two photos, you can see that in some of the white spots on one photo, there is an orange spot with white in the middle on the other photo.

Checkerspot
I am not as familiar with your area, but it appears to be one of the Anicia Checkerspot subspecies (then I could be wrong of course!)
Did you brighten this image before posting?
Compare
. Not exact match, but there is a lot of variability.
