pirate spider with green midge - Mimetus notius - Female
Tisbury, Dukes County, Massachusetts, USA
July 6, 2013
Size: 4 mm
Four Mimetus sp. are present in CT: M. epeiroides, M. puritanus, M. notius, and M. syllepsicus. Keys to M. notius due to broad figure on carapace, femora without a distinctly dark apical third, and abdomen more generally covered with dark areas than in M. puritanus (Kaston, 1980). Larger image.
