Glossy Black Idia - Idia lubricalis

Glossy Black Idia - Idia lubricalis
Town of Plymouth, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, USA
July 26, 1996
Adult came to night light. Positive ID made by examining the specimen...colors vary. Have never found a truly black specimen (only dark gray) or one that is glossy. Lubricalis, is from the Latin word, lubricus, meaning "smooth, slippery." I have trouble seeing the connection.
