Thanks
Thanks for the species id. Isn't she pretty?

Absolutely!
She's awesome looking, cracked pronotum and all!

Do you still have her?

I didn't collect this one. I
I didn't collect this one. I found her on the sidewalk when leaving my lab and took the photo. I just checked and she isn't there any more.

Darn!
I was hoping to add her to my collection. Oh well... If you come across another, I would love to have one for my collection. You can email me at bmyers_1963(at)yahoo.com to get my address and telephone number.

Cheers

Sure Will!
Would you be interested in other cicadas as well?

Absolutely!
I'm currently working on expanding my collection to include the cicadas of Texas and Florida. ANY specimens from those states would be most welcome and much appreciated!

Cheers!

Lots from Florida
Bill,

Can provide lots of material from Florida, let me know and we can make arrangements.

+ have some x-tra material from other states as well. Happy to share material for which I have multiples.

Cheers,
bill

You got it.
Can't promise of course, but if I come across any, I'll let you know.

Tibicen dealbatus
Nice find! It's a shame the pronotum is so badly cracked.

And the other Bill beat me to it...
Haha, but yes, this is definitely a Tibicen dealbatus. This species shares extremely similar coloration and song as those of Tibicen pronotalis. The only way to separate the two is by the presence of large amounts of waxy powder (pruinosity) on T. dealbatus and the somewhat lesser or lack of waxy powder on T. pronotalis. Both species produce a loud trilling call.

Here is the song for this species: http://www.insectsingers.com/100th_meridian_cicadas/songs/07.US.NM.SRP.T02.Tibicen_dealbatus_filtered.mp3

I promise...
Next one is yours, my friend:
