Species communa (Ophraella communa)
Explanation of Names
Ophraella communa LeSage 1986
communa = 'common'
3.4-4.3 mm (1)
The supplementary vittae not complete to end of elytra keys it away from notulata
Canada (transcontinental) to Mexico (2)(3), but most common in e. US (BG data)
host: common ragweed - Ambrosia artemisiifolia (Asteraceae) (2)
The spelling commun-a by LeSage, 1986 appears to be an incorrect original spelling according to ICZN Article 31.2. (Agreement in gender),
which would need emendation to commun-is. Exemption acc. to 31.2.2. cannot apply, because name clearly is intended as adjectivic.
