11 or 12 spots
Ron, there is a
Forum
debate about the
D. u. undecimpunctata
subspecies page/images. There is a reference to 11 spots for the subspecies in the
EPPO Data Sheets
. As I observed 12 spots on all but 1 image which actually has 10 spots, I can't help but notice that some images and I should say especially this one does seem to have 11 spots if you consider the top middle spot as one even though it does span across 2 elytras. If that was the case/interpretation, then this image may be
D. u. undecimpunctata
. Any thoughts on this possibility? Any thoughts on how a beetle with presumably "symetrical" spot arrangement could have 11 spots any other way?

I plead complete ignorance on this one.
Well, actually my lack of knowledge is greater than that.
Sorry to be of no help.
