Darker, less ornate abdomen (only lighter brown bands rather than very pale lines and spots). Wing pigmentation and venation are very similar to E. ornatum, with both sharing the unconnected crossveins.

Yeah, the desert southwest (CA and AZ in particular) have a ton of biodiversity, really of all Neuroptera. Most, from what I've seen, are less widely studied, especially by hobbyists, and the literature's really only been including color photographs of specimens in recent years. Thankfully, this genus has a very nice revision with color photographs of relevant traits: (1).
