Unidentified Moth-01-20130906 - Papaipema
Dunning Lake, Itasca County, Minnesota, USA
September 6, 2013
Attracted to light at our northern Minnesota home. I've tried looking through the family plates at MPG but that didn't help me find it.

Moved from Moths.

Moved from ID Request.

I just had one similar to yours identified as this: Papaipema arctivorens - Northern Burdock Borer - Hodges #9471

this moth is reported for Minnesota

How about Ash-tip Borer?
The white spots on mine seem to match better with Ash-tip Borer Papaipema furcata as shown in Peterson. Is that a possibility? However, the range maps in Peterson don't show either of them as far north as we are located.

Take a look at Papaipema
Note sure what species though, there are quite a few of them. Maybe somebody else can tell you more.
