Ryan helped me ID a moth caterpillar on an outdoor table cloth . . .
It was on an outdoor patio table cloth at my sister-in-law's down the hill from us . .
She called me two days later to examine the cocoon that had formed where I'd photographed the caterpillar.
Wow. Is the moth in there?
I see the remnant paddles enmeshed in the outer strands. The moth is also called a Paddle Moth because of those.
Wow.

Cocoon
The pupa is definitely in there, it will hatch next summer. If you want you can collect the cocoon (carefully) and keep it at natural temperatures until the summer, when you can see the adult.

Ryan . . . check this out !
What's going on ?

Thanks so much, Ryan .
We'll give it a try.
