Bee-like Robber Fly - Laphria thoracica

Bee-like Robber Fly - Laphria thoracica
Cedarburg, Wisconsin, USA
June 15, 2004
Size: about 25 mm
I saw this creature perched in a stall at the Cedarburg street fair, and happened to have a jar with me. Never see robber flies like this in California.

Moved
Moved from Laphria grossa.

Disregard the previous -- I obviously figured it out (by reading the Help section!).

Thanks for the ID correction.

Laphria
This appears to be Laphria thoracica yellow form. L. grossa has yellow facial hair and would be unusual in June in you area I am guessing. Wonderful specimen.

Move to proper page...
Can you move it to the correct place then -- I don't know how to to that!
