Large Beetle - Water Beetle? - Dytiscus circumcinctus

Large Beetle - Water Beetle? - Dytiscus circumcinctus
Fairbanks, Fairbanks North Star Borough County, Alaska, USA
September 4, 2013
Size: Longer than a Quarter
This beetle was in the back yard lawn. No standing water or ponds nearby. I think it is an Alaska Boreal Water Beetle. Have never seen one in Fairbanks before. 48 year resident.
