Explanation of Names

Systena elongata (Fabricius, 1798)

Identification

Has a single straight yellow stripe along each elytron, which curves in slightly at the apex (posterior end).

Can be distinguished from Systena blanda by the pronotum, which is typically black in S. elongata and dull orange ("pale testaceous") in S. blanda.(1)

reported from a wide variety of plants, incl. crops such as celery, cabbage, turnip, spinach, peanut, soybean, various beans, corn, peppers, tomato, eggplant, and grape(4)
