Beetle Larvae

Beetle Larvae
Ascension Parish, Louisiana, USA
October 8, 2006
Size: ~25mm

Moved tentatively; thanks again, Al

Histeridae?
Probably a histerid larva judging from habitus, but head characters not visible enough to confirm.

Moved
Moved from Beetles.

Not Elatridae (click beetle)
but no other idea, sorry . . .

Boris

Yup, third beetle family.
Trouble is, I'm not sure which one. It might be a freshly molted cl*ick beetle larva, but I've never seen one that's freshly molted so that's just a guess. Best send this one to Coleoptera for now.

btw, here are some larvae of scolytine bark beetles.
