Leaf Beetle? - Ophraella conferta

Leaf Beetle? - Ophraella conferta
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
July 24, 2004
This photo was taken on a nature trail near our home.

I have been perplexed by this individual's swollen abdomen. Is it a female full of eggs? Perhaps infected with a parasite? It looks to be a leaf beetle, possibly of the Pyrrhalta genus. I count 11 antennae segments, which may help with identification.

I have a shot almost identical to yours, including the swollen abdomen, and thought it looked most like O. conferta on this page. Don't know what to make of that abdomen.
