I thought this had
the SPHINX like body, so I got to Northern Pine Sphinx (Lapara coniferarum). . .we'll see if this is right on. :-) Looks like a new county for BG if so, sweet.

 
Yes northern pine sphinx
Note the Latin name: Lapara bombycoides, L. coniferarum is the southern species... though both are found in NY.

Green true legs on this one (as oppose to orange in L. coniferarum) signify the northern species.
