Over twenty specimens of flying Acleris gloveranus were captured and photographed at the light trap the past two days. Basically the only Acleris flying (same as last year on September 15th. Will be sending many in for DNA confirmation later this fall to confirm this highly polymorphic species.

he larvae feed on Tsuga heterophylla, Tsuga mertensiana and Abies species. The species is considered a pest. Severe outbreaks, which occurred on the coast during the 1940s and 1950s covered millions of acres and resulted in considerable tree mortality.
