Eggs on fur of dead shrew

Eggs on fur of dead shrew
Sitka County, Alaska, USA
September 14, 2013
I'm figuring these are insect eggs, and almost certainly not identifiable to species, but wondered if it would be possible to tell if they were flies or beetles, or something. I am guessing the eggs were laid after the shrew died. We didn't keep it to raise the insects up.
