Unknown Dermestid - Dermestes ater

Unknown Dermestid - Dermestes ater
Washington Heights, New York County, New York, USA
July 24, 2013
In one of the labs at Yeshiva University, we keep an open 10 gal. tank of sand, oatmeal and mealworms and adults (Tenebrio). This larvae was found after the weekend in the same tank along with adults of presumably the same species. I will tag both larva and adult for now and will separate if necessary. The adult appears similar to a D. ater I had posted but the curvature of the thorax and elytra appear slightly different.

Not the same individual?
So, it seems you are saying they are not the "same individual." It is OK to keep them linked if you make clear that they are part of the "same group."
