Monarch - Danaus plexippus - male

Monarch - Danaus plexippus - Male
Boca Raton, Florida, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
September 16, 2013
This worn male won the rights to exclusive nectaring rights on the Florida Keys Thoroughwort (Koanophyllon villosum) today. Only males have been seen nectaring so far - approximately four of them. Note that this individual has virtually no damage to his wings less the reduced number of scales.
