Urocerus maybe - Sirex - female

Urocerus maybe - Sirex - Female
Petite Riviere Iroquois, Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 18, 2013

Moved
Moved from Siricinae.

Siricidae
Sirex sp. Three species in the East look similar to this - Sirex cyaneus, S. nitidus, and S. noctilio. I would have to see the ovipositor and possibly sculpture of the mesopleuron to distinguish them.

I will try to capture one tom
I will try to capture one tomorrow at woodlot

Sirex sp…
I wonder if this may be S. noctilio, an invasive woodwasp.

See reference here.
