Austin, Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, Travis County, Texas, USA

Size: about 15 mm
I find this family very difficult, but this moth is so beat up that I'm not sure an ID is even possible... However, it doesn't match any I've seen so far.

Moved
Moved from Burrowbush Borer Moth. I had forgotten about this one. The ID was made with assistance from James McDermott, and it is a better fit than the previous placement, since we don't have the plant in this area.

Moved
Moved from Clearwing Moths.

Moth ID
This is Hymenoclea palmii - This western species is known from the washes around southern Arizona, Texas, California and northern Mexico where Burrobush (Hymenoclea monogyra) is found. This late season clearwing species emerges as the desert cools and the plant flowers.
