Spider - Neoscona

Spider - Neoscona
Keene, Johnson County, Texas, USA
September 24, 2013
Size: Approx. 3/4 to 1 inch
Having observed this spider for about two weeks, it was extremely shy when I approached, retreating to the crevices in the wood structure, and only coming out at night. Finally got a photo this morning while it was busy wrapping up a captured Japanese Beetle.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. A close-up of the scape could help us ID this to species.

Orb Weaver
genus Neoscona, maybe crucifera, but difficult to say
