Tiny cicada - Neotibicen auriferus

Tiny cicada - Neotibicen auriferus
Craig County, Oklahoma, USA
September 23, 2013
Size: 7/8"
There were a lot of these landing on the man on the tractor in a field. He found one in his clothing bag when he got home and one was in the bed of his truck. Less than an inch long body and 1.25" including wings. I'm thinking Diceroprocta? Possibly delicata...

Moved from ID Request.

Tibicen auriferus
Plains cicada

You got it Jimmy!
Tibicen auriferus, very common species out here in Kansas, this was a good year for them. As you said it is a rather small species.

Amazed daily!
I had no idea the Tibicen genus went this small in size! It looks exactly like the cicada you say it is. Thanks!

Also variable in size, color and pattern
Can be orange, tan, brown, black, green and/or several various combinations of the mentioned color forms
