Serpent Ringtail - Erpetogomphus lampropeltis - female

Serpent Ringtail - Erpetogomphus lampropeltis - Female
Cienega Creek Preserve, Pima County, Arizona, USA
October 25, 2006
Pretty sure this is a female Serpent Ringtail, Erpetogomphus lampropeltis - ID'd from looking at web site "Arizona Odes." Looks just like the female pictured there. Known to fly late in season, i.e. fall, in S. AZ. Pretty little beast, let me get to w/in inches of it with camera. Not yet represented in guide.

Another great addition with great photos. I was in the southern part of La Cienegas (Santa Cruz Co) August 2005 but saw no odes.
A female of the Green form (?ssp.) natrix

Thanks Tony -
You were just a little east of Sonoita and I don't think the creek runs perennialy there. I was about 20 mi north where it is perennial. Think you are right about ssp., according to Dunkle anyway.
