Painted Tiger Moth - Arachnis picta

Painted Tiger Moth - Arachnis picta
Oakland, Alameda County, California, USA
September 28, 2012
Size: About 1.5 Inches
This was the first one I've ever seen, but I've seen others since. I had a bit of difficulty identifying it, since I was looking for moths specifically in my area. I expanded my search and came across a picture titled "Painted Tiger Moth - Arachnis Picta" and I think it's a match, although the range includes central and Southern California, and I'm in the North. I saw a few of my "County Neighbors" have also posted images of the same species. Has it officially migrated up North?

Thanks!
Wow, thanks so much! I didn't know there was something like that on this site. There's been a lot of sightings in the Bay Area, so I guess it's safe to say the the range has expanded.
