Synonyms and other taxonomic changes

Schoenobius maximellus Fernald, 1891
Size
Fernald (1891) reported a wingspan of 63 mm.
Powell & Opler (2009) reported Donacaula maximellus and D. mellinella are among the largest of the group with forewing lengths 11-25 mm(1). Martinez's 2010 dissertation on the genus gives wingspans for mellinella as 21-34 mm and for maximellus as 32-58 mm (use of 'FWL' for these measures therein is erroneous and will be changed on publication).(2)
Food
Blanchard (1963) reported Zizaniopsis miliacea (Michx.) Doell & Aschers (Southern wild rice).
Life Cycle
Blanchard (1963) describes the life history in PDF.
