Moth
It is a moth: a lichen moth in the genus Cisthene. It looks a lot like Cisthene plumbea to me, though I'm not familiar with all the Florida species.

Cisthene
in MPG and your pick was the only one that would apply to my moth. Will be October image for Florida. Thank you, Paul, for your help.

The thorax did not look to me like one of a moth, but that obviously does not mean it is not a moth! Thank you for settling this.
