Mea culpa
My fault, this is getting confusing. I had forgotten that this fly had been identified all the way to species level. That is actually where it needed to be parked: the species page. I'll move it there just to save still further confusion.

But yes, you did the tagging process and all correctly!

thanks omar, ted
thanks omar really appreciate this.
now, i managed to get these images moved to here, is there anything else i'm suppose to do with them? any help would be most welcome. ted

Almost there
Almost there! One little wrinkle is that there is more than one family of Crane Fly. Just how many families depends on which expert you speak to. Here at BugGuide the two main Crane Fly families we recognize are Tipulidae and Limoniidae. You moved your images to one of the Crane Fly families, but alas not the right one. Yours is a Crane Fly in family Tipulidae.

It gets even more complicated, since by common name there are still other Crane Fly groups: Phantom Crane Flies, Winter Crane Flies, and more... But we don't need to go there today!

So you need to click on "tag all," then navigate to the page for family Tipulidae, then click on the images tab, then click on "moved tagged images here." You're done!

thanks steve, did i finally g
thanks steve, did i finally get it right???? ted

You have got the correct genus Nephrotoma
But Nephrotoma ferruginea does not occur in California, yours probably is Nephrotoma wulpiana, a western species. Moved to the generic page. - Chen
