Explanation of Names
Specific name phaceliae from the host plant genus Phacelia.
Size
Forewing length 4.5-6 mm. (1)
Range
Known only from the northern half of California. (2), (1), (3)
Season
Larvae present in leaf mines April to May in coastal areas, late May to early July in the mountains. (3)
Food
Larvae are leaf miners and have been reared on silverleaf phacelia (Phacelia hastata), California phacelia (P. californica), tall phacelia (P. procera) and changeable phacelia (P. mutabilis). (1), (3)
